Teddy Bear Hospital - seeks volunteers @ QUB

If you’re interested in working with kids and getting some great teaching experience, or maybe you’re just looking to get involved in something then TBH needs you!

Teddy Bear Hospital is an international project, run within Medsin in the UK, that aims to decrease the anxieties of children within the health care environment. Many young children find hospital experiences particularly daunting. By introducing them to hospital activities in a safe and unthreatening environment we hope to overcome this. The best way is to get the children to consider themselves in the ‘caring’ role as parents and guardians of teddies, brought to special clinic to be treated.

TBH at QUB has been trying to run for 2 years now and in partnership with the Royal Hospital for Sick Children has participated in their ‘well teddy clinic’ in the past.

Next year we aim to have the project up and running properly but all that is needed is a group of dedicated and keen individuals to help out running the project and really get involved.

If you’re interested, e-mail medsinbelfast@gmail.com

Indeed, if you know of any schools that would be interested please let us know also!
